The Delhi government is undertaking large-scale development projects to improve the quality of life of lakhs of people living in JJ clusters across the city. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is rapidly constructing, repairing, and carrying out public welfare works related to civic infrastructure across different parts of the national capital.

According to the CM, these projects aim to provide better civic amenities to residents of JJ clusters, making their lives safer, cleaner and more convenient.

These projects are being executed through the DUSIB budget, and in addition, funds are also being spent separately through the Delhi Government’s general budget and other departments.

The CM said DUSIB approved a total of 1,510 development and construction works in JJ clusters across Delhi during 2025-26 and 2026-27.

Of these, 1,253 works worth Rs 379.80 crore were approved in 2025-26, while approvals have so far been granted for 257 works worth Rs 61.30 crore in the current financial year.

Altogether, development works worth Rs 441.10 crore are being carried out during the two financial years, CM Gupta said.

The projects include construction and renovation of community toilets and public utility complexes, upgradation of community buildings, improvements in drinking water supply and sewerage systems, development of lanes and internal roads, repair of drains, strengthening of street lighting and electrical infrastructure, construction of boundary walls and entrance gates, stormwater drainage, beautification of public spaces, and the development of other civic amenities.

Gupta shared that development works are being prioritised in clusters located in Narela, Timarpur, Adarsh Nagar, Jahangirpuri, Azadpur, Bawana, Rohini, Seemapuri, Trilokpuri, Shahdara, Karawal Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Dwarka, Najafgarh and other parts of the city.

Gupta also mentioned that Atal Canteens are also being constructed in several Assembly constituencies across the Capital to provide nutritious meals to needy citizens at affordable prices.

According to CM, government is committed to bringing residents of JJ clusters into the mainstream of development.
