Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) organised a special sensitization programme for staff of the Horticulture Department at Asaf Ali Sabhagar, MCD headquarters on Saturday.

The initiative focused on the Chaudharies, the backbone of the corporation’s horticulture operations, aiming to strengthen their role in maintaining Delhi’s greenery.

The session was conducted by Swami Prem Parivartan, popularly known as Peepal Baba, the renowned environmentalist and founder of the Give Me Trees Trust, one of India’s largest volunteer-driven tree-planting movements.

Drawing on his extensive grassroots experience, Peepal Baba shared practical knowledge, motivational guidance, and best practices to improve on-ground horticulture efforts.

The programme was chaired by the Director-in-Chief and Director of the Horticulture Department, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives in enhancing both technical awareness and morale among staff.

Participants described the session as ‘enriching, rejuvenating, and deeply inspiring,’ emphasizing its impact in reinforcing their vital role in sustaining Delhi’s green cover.

Officials said the sensitization programme was part of MCD’s ongoing efforts to build capacity, strengthen field operations, and promote environmental awareness among its workforce.

“Such programmes not only equip staff with technical knowledge but also inspire them to take pride in their work, which is crucial for the city’s horticultural and environmental initiatives,” an official added.
