MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Tuesday visited the Okhla landfill site to review the progress of the ongoing Bio-remediation and waste management operations.

MCD officials briefed Khirwar on the current status of Bio-mining activities and the various works underway at the landfill site.

During the visit, Shashwat Saurabh, Deputy Commissioner, Central Zone; P C Meena, Engineer-in-Chief and other senior officials of the MCD were also present.

MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar observed the operation of the trommel machines engaged in Bio-mining activities at the Okhla landfill site and issued directives to expedite the Bio-mining process ensuring that the legacy waste accumulated at the site is cleared within the stipulated time frame.

During the inspection, the Commissioner also inspected the Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste plant.

The MCD Commissioner inspected the Okhla Engineered Sanitary landfill site and the Okhla Compost Plant.

Khirwar, along with local Councillor Arjun Pal Singh, inspected the ongoing renovation works at the Community Centre and Senior Citizens’ Recreation Centre currently under construction at the Community Centre located in Krishna Market Lajpat Nagar.

During the visit, the Commissioner interacted with local residents and instructed the officials present to ensure that the construction of this centre is completed as soon as possible.

Khirwar issued directives to outsource the vacant floors of the Community Centre in order to enhance the revenue of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
