A minor dispute spiralled into a bloody clash in northwest Delhi’s Bawana on Saturday night leaving one man dead and another injured, police said on Sunday.
According to the police, the incident took place around 9 pm near Dholak Wali Masjid in E-block, JJ Colony, when two groups with a history of quarrels over work. In the ensuing violence, Mohd. Raja, 27, a resident of JJ Colony, was stabbed multiple times in the head and waist. He was rushed to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital in Pooth, where the doctors declared him dead, a senior officer said, adding that “his body has been preserved at BJRM Hospital for post-mortem”.

Another man, Md. Akbar, 23, who also sustained injuries, is undergoing treatment at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital, although it was reportedly said that his condition is stable.
The cops from the Narela Industrial Area police station reached the spot soon after receiving the information about the clashes. As part of the investigation, Akbar’s statement was recorded by the police and an FIR based on his statement registered under sections 103(1), 109(1), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
While probing the case, the investigators have identified several suspects from the rival group. The CCTV footage from the area and eyewitness accounts are being scrutinised to reconstruct the sequence of events.
“One accused, a 16-year-old juvenile, has already been apprehended, while teams are on the hunt for others who remained absconding,” the officer said.
He continued by saying that multiple teams are actively pursuing leads to nab the remaining accused and recover the weapons used in the attack.
Several teams are actively tracing and pursuing the absconding accused. Further investigation of the case is in progress, the officer said.
