In yet another case of mob fury, a man was beaten to death by a mob in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district early on Thursday on suspicion of stealing their cattle, police said.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, said Superintendent of Police Abhinandan Singh.

Around 50 people attacked Shahrukh and three others when they spotted them in their cattle yard in Bholapur Hindoliya village.

The villagers thrashed the youths mercilessly and later handed them over to the police.

The villagers have filed an FIR against Shahrukh and three others, alleging cattle theft.

Shahrukh was taken to a district hospital by the police, where he died during treatment.

Earlier, police had suspected that Shahrukh died of drugs overdose saying he was a regular user but the post-mortem report revealed that he died of internal injuries to his liver and kidneys.

Shahrukh’s family has rubbished the theft allegations.
