Joint Director and Regional Head of the National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division), B. Kumar, stressed the importance of accurate and timely statistical data and called for greater participation of service-sector enterprises in strengthening India’s official statistical system.

Kumar was speaking at an ASISSE Self-Compilation Camp organised by the NSO (FOD), Sub-Regional Office, Siliguri, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, at the State Guest House on Monday.

The programme aimed to strengthen cooperation between the NSO and service-sector enterprises while promoting quality statistical reporting under the theme, “Data for Development.”

Senior Statistical Officers Prithoo Sarkar and Mainak Sarkar explained the ASISSE survey and the self-compilation process. Participants were guided on submitting survey returns, and their queries were addressed during an interactive session.

Around 40 service-sector enterprises participated in the camp. The programme facilitated direct interaction between enterprise representatives and NSO officials to encourage accurate, complete and timely submission of statistical information.

Assistant Director K.D. Bakshi, Head of Office Asish Kundu, Senior Statistical Officer Pankaj Lama, and other officials from the Siliguri and Malda offices were also present.
