In a step to strengthen Delhi’s healthcare system, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched a series of new health services and facilities as part of the ongoing service fortnight.

A major highlight amongst these was the launch of the national capital’s first online Organ Donation Portal, designed to bring transparency and encourage citizens to pledge their organs, which is potentially going to save a large number of lives.

Speaking at the occasion, Gupta said these initiatives would “not only modernise Delhi’s health infrastructure but also ensure timely, reliable, and affordable care for every citizen.”

She pointed out that dialysis capacity has already doubled to 300 machines, 168 Arogya Mandirs have been opened in just 167 days, and several major hospital expansion projects are in progress, the CM added.

Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh has said that the city has, for the first time, appointed 1,300 nurses and permanent medical superintendents and streamlined medicine procurement through a fully transparent centralized system.

These initiatives bring Delhi closer to a healthcare system that truly serves its citizens, making quality care more accessible, ensuring early diagnosis, and promoting transparency at every step, he said.

Delhi Chief Secretary Dharmendra, Health Secretary Nikhil Kumar, Special Secretary Danish Ashraf, senior officials, and doctors were present on the occasion.

Unveiling a comprehensive health package, the CM also launched 40 True Nat machines, 10 Patho-Detect machines, and 27 handheld X-ray machines to improve early detection of TB and its treatment across Delhi.

To enhance emergency medical response, she also flagged off 11 new CATS ambulances, taking the city’s fleet to 277, with 53 additional ambulances expected by October.
