Police teams quickly launched chase operation. After searching surrounding area, they found one of the suspects identified as Abhineet Singh lying injured in a nearby canal. His associate, however, managed to escape and is currently being hunted.

Singh was rushed to Government Medical College in Jammu, but doctors declared him dead. His body has now been sent for post-mortem examination as part of the legal process. Meanwhile, security forces have intensified search operations to track down the absconding accomplice.

History of crime and gang rivalries in Jammu

Police records reveal that Abhineet Singh was linked to Nagi gang and had long history of offences with more than 13 FIRs registered against him. These included serious charges like attempt to murder, rioting, arms smuggling.

Authorities say such incidents are rooted in long-standing gang rivalries in Jammu. For years, criminal groups have fought for control over illegal businesses like drug supply and smuggling. These rivalries often turn violent with clashes breaking out over dominance and territory.

Over time, law enforcement agencies have managed to weaken many of these networks through crackdowns. However officials admit that some gang elements are still active particularly in the outskirts of the city continuing to pose challenge.
