Investors ready to pay higher rates for natural produce: Himachal Guv

Governor Acharya Devvrat.

Governor Acharya Devvrat on Wednesday said major agricultural investors of the country were ready to take the entire natural produce of the state at one and a half times more than market rates.

“The pace at which the state is moving ahead it would soon emerge as a natural farming state,” he said, while speaking on the occasion of farmers training camp at Agriculture University Palampur in Kangra district.

He said under the zero budget natural project, the farmer who displays the natural farm would be made a master trainer and this would encourage other farmers too. Acharya Devvrat said farmers would be provided cow of Indian breed on subsidised rates through state government, for which private entrepreneurs have expressed their willingness to bear 50 per cent cost.

The Governor lauded the contribution of Padma Shri Subhash Palekar in developing the concept of zero budget natural farming and said he was the saint of present time who devoted his life for the benefit of farming community.

“It is due to the motivation of Subhash Palekar that I adopted this method of farming,” he said.

He said agricultural land in Himachal was more fertile than other states and by using ‘jeevamrit’ and ‘Ghanjeevamrit’ under natural farming, it would produce crops in the form of gold.

“Farmers have no interest in chemical farming as it is poisonous and they are also not adopting organic one, as it is costly and non reliable.

Now, the only option is natural farming as in this, the farmer does not have to spend a single penny and the benefits are many,” the Governor said. He invoked that by adopting this method, we could do great work in national interest and this work was linked to humanity.
