Stressing the importance of traditional medicine systems, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy; Unani; Siddha; and Homeopathy) system of medicine is not only important for health, but that there are immense employment opportunities in AYUSH health tourism.

“If AYUSH Health Tourism is given serious consideration, every village and house in the vicinity of the state’s first AYUSH University can be linked to some form of employment,” he pointed out.

In his address after inaugurating the OPD service at the state’s first Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University located in Pipri, Bhathat, on Wednesday, the CM said: “One of the many opportunities in tourism is health tourism. Ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy all have enormous potential. Ayush University will provide new opportunities in the field of health tourism. Certificate, diploma, and degree programmes will be offered. Ayush’s new work will be available in every home.”

He added that with the availability of good soil, water and a large forest here, the entire world would come to participate in Ayush health tourism.

The Chief Minister said that the AYUSH University will also pave the way for the prosperity of the farmers, while creating job-opportunities for the youth on a large scale. People will be able to supplement their income by collecting herbs that grow nearby, the CM pointed out.

He further added that Ayush University would become a major source of employment and positive change.

“Some will join the collection of herbs, while some others will cultivate medicinal plants, and some will move forward by joining the job market and shopkeeping. Everyone will get new opportunities”, he remarked. The Chief Minister urged everyone to participate in the development process and contribute to making Uttar Pradesh the country’s biggest economy.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that as the festival of Mahashivaratri is around the corner, the establishment of a university that teaches safe medical methods like Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Unani, etc., would be a true tribute to Lord Shiva and Shiv Avtar Guru Gorakhnath, referring to Lord Shiva’s matchless power that helped him maintain equanimity even after consumption of poison.

CM Yogi said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh is moving towards achieving the goal of one district, one medical college. Previously, there was only one medical college in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, the BRD Medical College of Gorakhpur that catered to patients from Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Deoria, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Santakbirnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Gonda, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Bihar and Nepal, he informed.

The Chief Minister added: “However, when the public elects a good government, the result is in front of everyone. The BRD Medical College, which was on the verge of closing, now offers super-specialty services. AIIMS has also been established in Gorakhpur. Medical colleges have started in Deoria, Basti, and Siddharth Nagar. The process of setting up medical colleges in Maharajganj and Santkabirnagar is moving forward rapidly. Every district of the state will have a medical college in the near future.”

CM Yogi stated that in addition to modern medicine, rapid strides have been made in the direction of providing complete health through traditional AYUSH methods to the people. Describing Uttar Pradesh as “the land of Ayurveda and Ayush.”

CM Yogi said, “That is why God also had to reincarnate on the land of Uttar Pradesh. The government is setting up an Ayush University in Gorakhpur to carry forward the traditional Ayush system of Uttar Pradesh.”

CM Yogi said that Former President Ramnath Kovind had laid the foundation stone of this university on August 28, 2021. “Today is the first day of OPD. In 6-8 months, the best facilities for Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Yoga, Naturopathy, and other complementary therapies will be available here.”

Mentioning the achievements of the Global Investors Summit, CM Yogi Adityanath said that “today the whole world is keen to invest in Uttar Pradesh. Investment proposals worth Rs 33.50 lakh crore were received at the Global Investors Summit. As a result of these initiatives, approximately 95 lakh people will gain employment.

Earlier, the youth of UP had to go to other states and countries for employment. Now that they will get employment in UP itself, there will be no need to go outside. People from other states will come here for employment.”
