In a special raid conducted today, the Drugs Control Department seized a large cache of illegally stocked medicines valued at over ₹1.3 crore. The operation, carried out in the Paschim Vihar area, followed a tip-off received by the department’s intelligence cell regarding the unlicensed storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals at a residential premises.
In a statement issued today, the department said the special enforcement team discovered a substantial stock of drugs, belonging to leading pharmaceutical brands, being stored for sale and distribution without the required license, in clear violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

The seized stock included several commonly prescribed and high-demand medicines such as Omeprazole capsules 20 mg, Ketorolac tromethamine tablets 10 mg, Glimepiride tablets 1 mg, Dapagliflozin tablets 10 mg, Calcitriol and calcium capsules, Formoterol fumarate and Budesonide inhalers, Vildagliptin and Metformin hydrochloride tablets 50 mg/500 mg, Metformin and Sitagliptin tablets 1000 mg/50 mg, Febuxostat tablets 40 mg, Vildagliptin tablets 50 mg, and Telmisartan tablets among others.

The individual present at the premises failed to produce any valid license or documentation regarding the purchase or sale of the stocked drugs. In accordance with protocol, random samples have been collected and sent to the Government Analyst for quality testing. Simultaneously, specimen samples have been forwarded to the respective manufacturers for verification of authenticity. The remaining stock has been lawfully seized, and custody permission has been obtained from the court, the statement added.
Commenting on the raid, Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “The Delhi Government has zero tolerance towards illegal and unlicensed drug operations. Stern action will be taken against those dealing in fake or expired medicines. We are intensifying search and seizure operations across the city, and this enforcement drive will continue to protect citizens from such unethical practices.”
