The death of six-year-old Avyaan Surya has sparked public outrage, with residents blaming poor safety measures at the excavation site. Authorities have filed an FIR, terminated the contractor’s services.

The Greater Noida Authority has taken strict action after a six-year-old boy died after falling into a water-filled pit at Kala Dham Society in the Knowledge Park area of Greater Noida. An FIR has been filed against the contractor and two site supervisors, while all three have also been removed from their duties.
Officials identified the accused as contractor Manoj Jain, site supervisor Johnny, and technical supervisor Akash. According to the Authority, the accident happened because of negligence during the borewell installation work.

The Greater Noida Authority said the tube well project had been officially approved after residents of the society complained about water supply problems. The borewell was originally planned at a different location.

General Manager A.K. Singh explained that the approved site required the removal of a few trees because of limited space, and that process had already started around a week before the incident. However, preliminary findings suggest that the contractor shifted the borewell installation site on his own without informing or getting permission from the Authority.
Officials believe this unauthorized change led to the digging of the pit where the fatal accident later took place.
The victim was identified as six-year-old Avyaan Surya, son of Siwan Yadav, Vice Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
According to police and local residents, the excavation pit was around 15 feet deep and had filled with rainwater after recent rainfall. Avyaan was playing with other children near construction site when he accidentally slipped and fell into pit.
Residents immediately rushed to rescue the child and took him to nearby hospital. There doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, police sent the child’s body for a post-mortem examination and started an investigation into the case.
Expressing grief over the incident, Greater Noida Authority General Manager A.K. Singh described the death as deeply tragic. He said the Authority was saddened by the loss and confirmed that the tube well project had been approved only to solve the society’s water shortage.
The Authority has launched its own inquiry while police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has sparked anger among residents of Kala Dham Society. They are now questioning safety arrangements at construction site. Many alleged that excavation area was left open without proper barricades, warning boards, or any protective barriers. That made it dangerous for children and pedestrians.
