He continued by saying that, “In self-defence, the police fired two rounds, injuring Verma in the right leg. He was immediately taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital, Dwarka, for medical treatment.”

The matter came to light on June 24, when the complainant, a businessman, filed a complaint of dacoity that involved the theft of Rs 30 lakh. Based on the complainant’s statement, an FIR was registered at the Vasant Kunj South police station, and the officers initiated an investigation.

Police have recovered one automatic pistol with two live cartridges, as many cars, one motorcycle, several mobile phones, and approximately Rs 7 lakh in cash that was stolen from the farmhouse.

The officer said, “Verma was the mastermind of the dacoity with a criminal history. He was involved in seven heinous cases of robbery, murder, and the Arms Act. He was also wanted in an attempted murder case in Mithanpura police station, Muzaffarpur, Bihar.”

During the sustained interrogation with him, he admitted to having been involved in the crime by orchestrating the dacoity and supplying arms to his associates.

The DCP said, ”We have held 11 accused for their involvement in this case. Although further investigation into this case is ongoing.”
