An evening of art and elegance: Grand Masters Show 2026 celebrates India’s artistic legacy in Delhi

South Delhi’s art circle gathered at Saket last week as House of VSB opened The Grand Masters Show 2026 at Galleria VSB in Square One Mall.

Held on February 27, the evening combined big names from Indian art history with a spotlight on younger artists finding their voice today. The show has been curated by Vandana Bhargava, Founder and Chairperson of House of VSB, along with Varun Bhargava, CEO of the organisation.

The exhibition brings together works associated with towering figures such as Raja Ravi Varma, Amrita Sher-Gil, Rabindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Ramkinkar Baij, MF Husain, SH Raza, FN Souza and Akbar Padamsee, among others. The idea, organisers said, was to present the sweep of India’s artistic journey in one space.

The gallery was lit softly, the works placed with breathing room. Guests moved slowly between canvases, pausing for conversations and photographs.

Industrialist Purushottam Bhaggeria, HT Political Editor Shishir Gupta, education entrepreneur Shantanu Prakash, Sylvie Rodgers, Shehnaz Husain and several diplomats were among those present.

The show was presented in collaboration with T&T Motors Mercedes-Benz. A luxury vehicle display stood within the venue, creating a deliberate contrast between brushstrokes and engineering precision.

Emerging Artist awards announced

One of the key moments of the evening was the finale of the Emerging Artist Competition 2025, an initiative of Galleria VSB to identify promising talent from across India, including artists from regional and tribal belts.

The top three winners were awarded Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively. Seven other finalists received Rs 10,000 each. The organisers described the awards as an effort to provide financial encouragement and visibility to young practitioners.

Addressing the gathering, Vandana Bhargava thanked artists and patrons for supporting the gallery’s vision.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors until March 31, 2026, at Galleria VSB on the third floor of Square One Mall, Saket.
