A former Nigerian footballer of Kolkata Maidan was arrested by the Detective Department (DD) officers of Kolkata Police in connection with alleged trafficking of cocaine.

Sources close to officers of DD at Lalbazar said that a former Nigerian footballer, identified as Emanuel, who used to play for the Kolkata Port Trust team during 2009-14, was arrested from Hazra in South Kolkata on Tuesday evening on charges of possessing cocaine.

DD sources said that Emanuel was arrested following interrogation of another Nigerian, Kelvin Chinedu, who was arrested earlier in connection with alleged drug trafficking charges.
