Invoking Section 144 across the city, the Delhi Police apprehended five persons for creating a public nuisance on the Vikaspuri flyover in West Delhi by driving zigzag and bursting colour bombs for a video shoot, a police official said on Friday.

According to the police, there were 20-25 cars involved in the incident. Efforts are on to arrest the other culprits in the case, absconding with their vehicles. So far, the police have seized five vehicles from the five arrested accused.

After receiving information about the miscreants, who disrupting traffic movement by sticking out from the sun-roofs of their vehicles to pose for video grab, a joint team of local police and the Traffic Police was formed to rein in on the miscreants and stop their vehicles from entering the Peeragarhi area from the flyover.

Considering Section 144 already in force across the national capital, the team immediately registered a case against the five culprits, identified and nabbed from the Tilak Nagar area, under sections 279 and 188 of IPC on the basis of CCTV footage and a complainant’s information. They were identified as Subeer Singh, Naam Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Harmeet Singh, and Manmeet Singh.

Meanwhile, DCP West Delhi Vichitra Veer appealed to the general public to abide by traffic rules and not cause any kind of inconvenience to fellow commuters on the road.
