The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested a key individual, identified as Adil Hussaini, for his alleged involvement in a sophisticated racket producing counterfeit passports and identity documents. The illicit operation was reportedly being run from Jamshedpur, police said on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the investigation, which is being conducted in collaboration with central agencies, revealed that the network was creating fake passports and ID cards using forged documents. Adil Hussaini was taken into custody, and authorities are conducting intensive interrogations to uncover the full scope of the operation.

“Investigators are working to determine the accused’s contacts, how he sourced the information required for the forgeries, and to whom he was supplying these fabricated documents,” a police source stated.

The case widened with the arrest of Adil’s brother, Akhtar, by the Mumbai Police. Sources indicate that Akhtar had previously travelled to Gulf countries multiple times using a fraudulently obtained passport and had also acquired three separate ID cards from a confidential centre.

“It appears Adil’s brother also travelled to Gulf nations using fake documents,” an official familiar with the probe confirmed.

Apart from the two brothers, several other individuals are suspected to be involved, with some currently absconding. The police have also arrested a café owner believed to be linked to the network.

Authorities are now investigating how many fake passports the syndicate has already supplied and identifying all potential recipients to prevent further misuse of the fraudulent travel documents.
