The Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled an interstate drug syndicate with the arrest of two men, who allegedly supplied narcotics procured from Himachal Pradesh to residents of the national capital, including students in South Delhi’s Qutub Institutional Area and IIT Delhi, an official said on Friday.

According to the police, over 2 kg of high-grade charas, valued at around Rs 80 lakh in the international market, was seized from the accused, which was being smuggled into the city for distribution during the festive season.

On Wednesday, acting on a lead received by local intel, a team from the Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell (ARSC) set a trap at Singhu Border.

The officer, adding to his statement further, said that the accused, Sagar Sejwal and Manoj Sansanwal, were apprehended in a Tata Nexon vehicle carrying 2.070 kg of charas concealed inside.

Amid the probe into this case, it was revealed that Sejwal, who has a history in crime and was previously in jail for drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh, resumed his illegal trade after release, initially using couriers before personally transporting the contraband.

Furthermore, Sansanwal, a Delhi University graduate and father of two, started as a consumer before turning dealer, focusing on student clientele.

While being interrogated by the officers, they admitted to supplying narcotic substances during the festive season, capitalizing on heightened demand.

DCP Yadav, in his statement, further mentioned that the team of officers suspects a larger interstate syndicate operating between Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, and investigations into that are currently ongoing to map the network.

An FIR under sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Crime Branch police station against the duo.
