MCD intensifies efforts to increase voting percentage in LS polls
The civic body has roped in various commercial establishments, offering discounts to voters who cast their votes, said MCD in an official statement on Tuesday.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday took strict action against unauthorised construction by demolishing the Ziyarat Guest House in the Basti Nizamuddin area.
The civic body said in a statement, “A team of the MCD completely demolished the first and second floor of the guest house. The MCD carried out this action with DDA in compliance with High Court orders. The MCD also demolished unauthorised construction in the Kalindi Kunj area of the central zone.”
This month, 131 demolition actions, 35 sealing actions, 10 actions against illegal plotting /colonisation, getting the 18 acres of land freed.

“More such stringent actions are already in the pipeline for execution of demolition actions in the coming days. These actions have been taken in areas such as Dera, Mandi, Bhati, Chhatarpur, Jonapur, Jaitpur, Mithapur, Burari, Narela, Bhalaswa, Kadipur, Alipur, Jeendpur, Bhorgarh, etc,” the MCD said.
In January of this year, the MCD undertook as many as 495 demolition actions, 137 sealing actions, and 69 actions against illegal plotting /colonisation to get 125 acres of land freed. Also, 66 offenders have been prosecuted.
“The MCD will continue to carry out demolition/sealing actions/actions against illegal plotting /colonisation in the coming weeks with higher intensity,” the civic body added.
