The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has invited e-tenders for RFID-based parking systems at 28 parking sites across nine clusters in the city.

The selected agency will look after operations, management, and collection of parking charges through FASTag on a monthly license fee basis. The allotment of parking sites would be for a period of three years which is further extendable for two years on mutual agreement, as per a communiqué issued by the civic body on Tuesday.

The automated parking system will enable commuters the ease of paying parking fees as the parking fees will be automatically deducted through the RFID-based FASTag used for toll tax collections, it said.

The collection of the parking charges will be undertaken using FASTag for four-wheelers and will be QR code or UPI based for two-wheelers. Sensors will be installed at entry and exit points to read FASTag thereby easing the process of parking charge collection, the statement said.

“These parking lots include Gazipur, Patparganj, Mayur Vihar phase I & II, III, Laxmi Nagar Metro Station, Vikas Marg, Mandawali, Nand Nagri, Rajouri Garden, Vasundhara enclave, Babarpur Road, Dwarka Sector 6 market, Appu Ghar, Sant Nagar, Geeta Colony, Bihari Colony, Shashi Garden and Okhla Phase –III. Other key sites include Nehru Place and multi-level parking at Hauz Khas, New Friends Colony, and Kalkaji,” it said.

The MCD said it is in the process of starting RFID-based parking systems at 21 parking lots by the end of this month.

The automated system will make it easier for commuters as well as parking agencies in the efficient collection of parking charges. The last date for submission of bids is March 4. The MCD is operating over 400 parking sites, including stack or multilevel parking in the capital, it added.
