The Delhi Police team has come across a fresh lead in the investigation of the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walker murder case.

As the Police are investigating why Aftab Poonawala allegedly killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cut her body into pieces in Delhi’s Mehrauli, the team has ended up getting a water bill even when 20,000 liters is free every month.

According to sources, the team has found an outstanding water bill of Rs 300 at the accused flat and has also received information from the neighbor that the water bill of all the floors comes to zero, except for Aftab’s. Neighbors also told the Police that Aftab used to regularly go and check the building’s water tank.

The couple had moved into the rented flat on May 14, but Aftab Poonawala was living alone since May 18, the day he allegedly killed Shraddha Walkar, the probe says.

According to the source, “The flat owner knew that they are not a married couple. They were given the flat through a broker. Aftab used to deposit Rs 9,000 into the account of the owner between 8 and 10 of every month.”

Aftab and Shraddha both were call center employees, they lived together in Maharashtra’s Vasai, their hometown near Mumbai, before moving to Delhi.

The Delhi Police will present the accused before Saket Court today and seek his further custody.  And the water bill will play an important role in the investigation.

According to the sources. if the court today grants further custody of Aftab to the police, they are likely to investigate this angle as well.
