A 45-year-old vendor was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh, police said on Tuesday.

The police said the deceased has been identified as Mohammad Manzur, a resident of TC Colony in Rajouri Garden, who used to sell clothes in weekly markets.

The incident took place at around 10 pm on Monday, they said.

The injured was immediately rushed to GFS Hospital, where, during the medical treatment, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

According to the police, Manzur was returning home from the weekly market in Madipur on a rickshaw when he was allegedly shot at from close range.

While the preliminary investigation into this case is ongoing, the motive of the attack is yet to be ascertained, although the circumstances indicate that the murder was committed due to personal enmity.

A senior officer mentioned that “there are no signs of robbery in this case; also, the initial findings point towards a case of personal enmity.”

The CCTV footage of the vicinity of the premises has been analyzed thoroughly to determine the identity of the assailant involved in this incident.

With this, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS, and multiple teams have been sent to zero in on the accused.

The team is conducting raids at several suspected locations, and further investigation is ongoing by the cops to unearth further details.
