In a sensational case involving breach of trust by a cashier of a famous outlet in Delhi South-Extension Market, the Delhi Police has arrested three people recovering over Rs 93 lakh in cash, the police said on Friday.

According to the complaint received by the police, on Tuesday, the cashier of the shop fled with cash amounting to Rs 1 crore, which he was supposed to deposit in the bank.

The accused identified as Rishabh worked as a cashier with an outlet in South- Extension-I. When the complainant tried to contact him, he switched off the mobile phone.

Beginning the probe in the matter, the police traced the route taken by the accused with the help of CCTV footage, as he had left the shop on a scooty.

The police teams had to scan through a large amount of CCTV footage in this connection before finally zeroing down about where the cashier went after leaving the shop with the cash.

In the ongoing investigation it was revealed that he had handed over the cash to another person and took out Rs 2.5 lakh from the stash and had left for Dehradun with his wife.

His associate further revealed about the location where they had kept the stolen cash and police recovered around Rs 91,19,500 from the disclosed location and the third person involved in the heist.

Finally, the accused person’s location was traced by the police when he contacted his associate using his wife’s cell phone and informed them that he would return from Dehradun.

The police finally nabbed the absconding cashier from Bharatpur junction as he had already boarded the train, while the other persons involved in the conspiracy were also apprehended by the police team.

During questioning, the cashier revealed that usually he used to deposit Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh in the bank.

However, the day when the amount was almost Rs 1 crore, as it was not deposited for some days, he turned greedy and he decided to flee with the hefty sum of money.

According to police, the cashier was a native of Bihar’s Purnia while other associates included his wife, a private business owner Sachin Yadav and an electrician.
