In adherence to the Supreme Court’s order dated October 15, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has announced strict regulations on the sale and use of firecrackers in the National Capital Territory (NCT) ahead of Diwali, an official said on Thursday.
Only green crackers certified by NEERI and carrying valid QR codes will be permitted for sale and use, strictly between October 18 and 20.

“These crackers will be available only through licensed traders at designated locations, jointly identified by the District Administration and Delhi Police,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).
Adding to his statement further, he said, all other types of firecrackers, including traditional, larries, and online or courier-supplied products, remain completely banned. Violations will attract strict legal action.
Bursting of green crackers will be allowed in two limited windows: 6:00–7:00 AM and 8:00–10:00 PM on the day before Diwali and on Diwali day, the officer mentioned.
The Delhi Police has mobilized special patrolling and enforcement teams to monitor compliance. Citizens are encouraged to celebrate Diwali responsibly and report any violations via helpline 112.
