Delhi Police’s Outer North District has cracked a major robbery case involving an elderly victim, arresting three members of an inter-district gang and recovering a portion of the stolen cash and a vehicle.

The crime occurred on November 27 after the senior citizen withdrew Rs 3.5 lakh from a bank in Burari. According to police, a group of five men, operating on two motorcycles, followed him from the bank. They intercepted him at a secluded spot in the Bawana-Narela belt, surrounded him, and snatched the cash before fleeing.

A special investigation team from Police Station Swaroop Nagar, using technical analysis and ground surveillance, tracked down and arrested the accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan (21), Sachin (22), and Akash (24). Their interrogation revealed a meticulously planned operation where the gang members posed as customers inside the bank to identify a target carrying a large sum.

The police have recovered Rs 58,000 of the stolen money and the TVS motorcycle used in the crime. The accused disclosed that the robbery was planned by two of their absconding associates, Lovely and Mohan alias Gandhi, who received a significant share of the loot. Raids are ongoing to apprehend them and recover the remaining cash and the second motorcycle.

Commenting on the breakthrough, DCP, Outer North District, Hareshwar Swami (IPS) said, “The swift and coordinated efforts of our team have successfully busted this inter-district gang. We are continuing our investigation to nab the absconding accused and recover the entire robbed amount.”

Police are examining call records and communications to uncover the full network involved in this and potentially linked crimes.
