The South District Police on Monday said they have apprehended three members of a gang, including a minor, allegedly involved in a series of armed robberies targeting food delivery executives during late-night hours.
The breakthrough came after a meticulous investigation into an incident reported on October 17, when a Zomato delivery executive, Shahnawaz, was robbed at knifepoint by three assailants on a motorcycle near Zamrudpur in Greater Kailash-I in the early hours. The robbers made off with his mobile phone, ₹5,000 in cash and his motorcycle key.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said a special team from the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) was formed to crack the case. “The team analyzed footage from more than 250 CCTV cameras across a 20-kilometre stretch to identify and track the suspects’ movements,” said DCP Chauhan.
After a week-long surveillance operation, the police team located and apprehended all three accused from a rented accommodation in the Pul Prahladpur area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Priyanshu and Gaurav, both 19, along with a 17-year-old minor.
From their possession, police recovered a stolen motorcycle, the robbed Vivo mobile phone, a knife used in the crime, and ₹1,100 of the stolen cash. The gang is believed to be involved in at least three other similar robbery cases in the South and South-West districts of Delhi.
“Dedicated efforts by the team have led to the busting of this gang that was preying on delivery workers at night. Our investigation is ongoing to uncover any other crimes they may have committed,” the DCP added.
