Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested three gangsters involved in a Rs 14-lakh daylight dacoity in Anand Vihar and thereby foiled their plan for another heist in Aligarh, an official said on Tuesday.
According to a senior officer, the accused have been identified as Deepak Sharma, Momin, and Amir Suhail.

“They were arrested following a sustained investigation along with two country-made pistols, a sophisticated Beretta pistol, 17 live cartridges, and a car used in the crime,” said Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).
On August 31, they looted Rs 14 lakh at gunpoint before fleeing to Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat, where they split the stolen cash.
“CCTV footage captured five suspects arriving in a car bearing a fake registration plate,” the officer added.
During the investigation, technical surveillance eventually led the team to Village Panchi in Baghpat, where Amir Suhail and Deepak Sharma were nabbed on Wednesday.
“Their questioning helped police track down another accomplice, Momin, in Delhi,” DCP Yadav mentioned.
During questioning, the arrested men revealed that the kingpin, Rashid, had planned the heist after Sharma tipped him off about the cash stockpile. The group meticulously avoided carrying mobile phones to evade tracking. They disclosed that, after their first success, they plotted another dacoity in Aligarh, targeting an alleged hawala courier carrying up to Rs 90 lakh. The plan was foiled after the arrests.
The police said Sharma has a criminal history with seven previous cases, including murder and armed robbery, registered against him across Delhi, Haryana, and UP. Momin, who had been convicted earlier in a murder case, spent 12 years in jail before joining Rashid’s gang.
Suhail, however, is a first-time offender who ran a home appliances shop in Gurugram.
Efforts are ongoing to nab the remaining gang members, including their leader Rashid, said Yadav in his statement.
