The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday launched the ‘Har Ghar Jal Yojna’ in 45 JJ clusters of the Kalibadi area, aiming to ensure safe drinking water under the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission. The civic body announced projects worth Rs 7.5 crore as part of the rollout.

Speaking at the event, Verma lauded NDMC’s efforts and emphasized that access to safe water is not just a basic necessity but also a crucial enabler for public health, dignity, and social development.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of senior NDMC officials, community leaders, and enthusiastic local residents, who welcomed the initiative as a milestone in improving their quality of life. The program aims to provide individual piped water connections in JJ Cluster areas, ensuring equitable access to clean drinking water for all.
At the Kalibadi Marg JJ Cluster alone, nearly 460 households will benefit from this project, with work expected to be completed within the next two months, noted an official statement. This development is part of the institution’s larger plans of upgrading civic amenities in informal settlements and extending essential infrastructure to marginalized communities.
The agency highlighted that under Group A, they had identified 15 JJ Clusters for water supply improvement. Of these, work in 8 clusters has already been completed, and the remaining projects are under progress, the press note stated. The civic body has targeted to complete the cluster by December 2025.
