Delhi IT mininister emphasizes digital security; govt working on comprehensive cyber security framework

In line with Delhi government’s commitment to building a secure and resilient digital ecosystem, the Information Technology Department, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on Thursday organised a state-level consultative workshop on strengthening the cyber security frameworks for state’s data.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi’s IT Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said during current digitally driven era, securing government data is not merely a technological responsibility, but a commitment towards every citizen.
Notably, all the recommendations emerging from the workshop will contribute towards the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive cyber security framework for the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

He assured that under guidance of CM Rekha Gupta, the government is continuously strengthening cyber security architecture to safeguard government data and public digital services.

He emphasized on the need of being alert amid the evolving cyber threats, and also enhancing cyber resilience with adoption of future-ready systems for ensuring a secure and trusted digital governance.
The workshop today was inaugurated by Dr Singh, who also emphasised on protecting the citizen services.

Senior officials concerned and other department experts were also present on the occasion.
Inter departmental coordination was also highlighted during the workshop as an important aspect to ensure cyber security, and for developing a comprehensive strategy to effectively address emerging threats.

Dr Singh said that data security has become one of the government’s foremost priorities, adding that with the increasing digitalisation, cyber criminals are employing increasingly sophisticated methods that transcend geographical boundaries, making it imperative for governments to remain vigilant and continuously strengthen cyber security mechanisms.
He instructed all the departments to adopt best practices when it comes to cyber security, and also to cultivate a culture of cyber awareness across government institutions, especially amongst the government employees and also spread awareness amongst citizens.
The workshop featured expert sessions covering cyber threat intelligence, protection of critical information infrastructure, incident response mechanisms, data privacy, emerging technologies and global best practices in cyber risk management.

Participants also deliberated on key issues relating to cyber governance, capacity building, security audits, cyber awareness and adoption of robust security frameworks to strengthen preparedness across government departments.
