The Delhi government will commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of revered Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur with a grand three-day event at the iconic Red Fort, the very site where the ninth Sikh Guru attained martyrdom.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom represents the country’s highest ideals of freedom, justice, and compassion.

She said the event would be Delhi’s heartfelt tribute to the revered guru’s values, and the government’s aim is not just to commemorate history, but to take his timeless message to every home, every school, and every generation.
According to Gupta, this event will be Delhi’s first and the country’s largest event where people of all faiths will come together in shared reverence to honor Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice.
In this regard, a high-level meeting to finalize the event plans was chaired by CM on Wednesday, which was attended by eminent community members, leaders and religious organisations along with Delhi’s Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MP Shri Vikramjit Singh, former MP Tarlochan Singh, DSGMC Chairman Harmeet Singh Kalka, and various Gurudwara committee members.
Senior Sikh leader Minister Sirsa, who is actively coordinating the event, said, “This is the first time Delhi will witness such a large-scale, immersive tribute to Guru Sahib. We are organising a Light & Sound Show at Red Fort, which will be based entirely on Sikh history and the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,” he added.
Sirsa further said, “We are also introducing a Virtual Reality experience for students to relive key moments from Guru Sahib’s life. The Department of Art and Culture is in constant consultation with community leaders and Gurdwara committees.”
He shared that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings will be made available to the public during the event, to ensure widespread understanding of his spiritual and philosophical contributions.
The minister for art, culture, and languages said the event is Delhi’s duty, a long-overdue homage to Guru Sahib’s message of unity, courage and righteousness.
He informed that the government is also revamping the Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial, where a daily Light and Sound Show will be launched.
In response to community suggestions, the Delhi government is actively exploring locations to build a dedicated research and study centre focused on Sikh history, he added.
