Highlighting the country’s democratic journey, the Delhi Legislative Assembly has opened its doors to the public, especially students, to witness the special exhibition “Veer Vitthalbhai ki Gaurav Gatha”. The exhibition showcases several historic documents and photographs that narrate how the foundations of India’s democracy were laid.
The Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday informed that Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has asked all Members of the Assembly (MLAs) to spread the word in their constituencies so that maximum citizens, particularly school and college students, can benefit from this unique opportunity to learn about India’s parliamentary heritage.

The special exhibition, inaugurated during the recently concluded Speakers’ Conference at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, will remain open to the general public at the Assembly complex until August 31.
A batch of around 250 students from Indraprastha College, University of Delhi, visited the exhibition on Tuesday, followed by another group from Ramjas College. The Assembly Secretariat ensured that young citizens were among the first to engage with this living tribute to India’s democratic legacy.
The exhibition is also scheduled to travel to different constituencies of Delhi, allowing citizens across the capital to connect with the life and contributions of Patel. In the coming months, it will be established as a permanent feature in the Vidhan Sabha Gallery, with the Tiffin Room (earlier known as the Gallows Room) being transformed into a dedicated exhibition hall.
Speaker Gupta expressed confidence that the exhibition would attract large public participation and stand as a lasting celebration of India’s democratic heritage.
The exhibition goes beyond simply displaying history — it allows people to experience it. A state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) Zone, life-sized statues of legendary freedom fighters, rare archival documents, and a specially produced documentary on India’s democratic journey together create an immersive learning experience for visitors of all ages.
The VR Zone has already become the most popular attraction, with visitors forming long queues to experience life-like recreations of the Constitution House (Samvidhan Sadan), the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, and the new Parliament. Many described it as “time travel through history” and the most memorable part of their visit.
Adding to the experience, documentary screenings are being held on pre- and post-Independence India, presenting the evolution of the country’s democracy in a simple, engaging, and inspiring manner. Notably, the film’s voice-over has been narrated by award-winning actor Anupam Kher.
“The warmth and excitement we have witnessed from the public in just a few days is truly heartening. I encourage every citizen, especially students, to visit and experience this historic exhibition. It is not just a tribute to our democratic legacy, but also a source of inspiration for building India’s future,” Gupta said.
