The Delhi Police has arrested a 24-year-old deaf and mute club manager in Gurugram for allegedly assaulting a man in a road rage in southwest Delhi’s Palam village leading to his death, an official said on Tuesday.

A police team arrived at the scene and discovered a scooter lying nearby. The injured man was rushed to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka, where doctors declared him dead.

The investigation into the case revealed that Kapil was assaulted following a minor collision between his scooter and the accused’s car.

DCP Goel said that a key eyewitness of the incident provided officers with the registration number of a car seen leaving the scene after the assault. As per the statement of the eyewitness, Arora and Kapil got into a heated exchange after their vehicles grazed each other, police said.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a violent altercation, during which Arora allegedly struck Kapil in the chest before fleeing the scene, the DCP added.

The police traced the car’s ownership and learned from the registered owner that it was being used by his brother-in-law, Arora, the officer said, adding that, on the basis of this information, the team located and arrested Arora in Najafgarh.

During questioning conducted with the assistance of a sign language interpreter, Arora allegedly confessed to the crime. He told the investigators that he lost his temper after the victim allegedly made offensive gestures toward him, prompting him to assault him before fleeing the scene in his car.

The police said Arora, who has had a 65 per cent disability since birth and is unable to hear or speak, works as a manager at a club in Gurugram, Haryana. He was presented before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

The officer stated that the further investigation into this case is ongoing by the team
