Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Tuesday alleged that corruption and negligence within the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) contributed to the recent building collapse in Saidulajab near Saket Metro Station, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.
Addressing the issue, Yadav said reports indicating that the building had previously been flagged for alleged building violations and that concerns over ongoing construction had been brought to the notice of civic authorities raised serious questions about enforcement and oversight.

The Congress leader demanded that accountability be fixed for the incident and called for compensation for the families of those killed and injured. He alleged that illegal constructions have continued to flourish due to corruption within the civic body and accused both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party of failing to curb such practices during their respective tenures in the MCD.
Yadav also urged authorities to conduct comprehensive safety audits of buildings across the city, stating that many structures with alleged unauthorized additions continue to pose risks to residents. He said recent building collapse incidents in Delhi highlight the need for stricter monitoring and enforcement of building regulations.
The Saidulajab building collapse near Saket Metro Station resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to several others. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and examining whether any building norms or safety regulations were violated.
