Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Saturday held a review meeting at Delhi Secretariat to assess the availability of medicines, equipment, staff, and infrastructure across government hospitals in the national capital.
The meeting came in the wake of reports of severe delays in MRI and CT scan services at Lok Nayak Hospital, where patients were reportedly given MRI appointments as late as 2028 following a breakdown of the digital imaging system.

Gupta responded to the media queries regarding the delays, and stated that some hospitals in the city are still using outdated medical machines. “The government is arranging advanced diagnostic equipment, including MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, and X-ray machines, through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.”
On Friday, state Health Minister Singh announced that all 36 hospitals under the Delhi government will have radiological diagnostic facilities, including MRI and CT scan services, by March 2026 under a public-private partnership (PPP).
Addressing the concerns regarding shortage of ventilators across the city hospitals, Gupta said that there is no shortage of ventilators in Delhi’s hospitals, and all ventilator beds are fully functional. She further added that to handle emergencies, additional ventilators procured during COVID-19 remain available.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed all Medical Superintendents of all Delhi government hospitals to immediately report any shortage or deficiency in their facilities. “We will ensure prompt supply,” she assured, adding that there is no shortage of funds for strengthening Delhi’s healthcare system.
