The goal of the government is to ensure Delhi shines brightly and remains clean this Diwali, she said, adding that all departments have been asked to work together to make it possible.
The CM has also appealed to the people of Delhi to use indigenous products, maintain cleanliness, and celebrate Diwali in an environmentally-conscious manner.
In line with this objective, Delhi Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma instructed that all arrangements be properly made.
Gupta further emphasized that public participation and community events be encouraged on a large scale during the upcoming festivals.
She instructed different departments and agencies to coordinate effectively to ensure smooth management amid festivities.
Following the CM’s directives, CS Verma issued detailed guidelines to all department heads, ordering that all arrangements be meticulously planned. He also instructed all local bodies, the Electricity Department, and the Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure that streetlights are fully functional across roads, markets, colonies, religious sites, and public areas.
He asserted that any streetlight that is not working must immediately be fixed so that the entire city is well-lit during the festival.
The Delhi Police (Traffic Wing) has been directed to deploy additional personnel in markets and at major roads, besides implementing an effective traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicle movement and crowd control in busy areas.
Verma has also instructed the MCD and the New Delhi Municipal Council to enhance cleanliness measures in the city. To achieve it, special cleaning drives will be conducted in alleys, markets, public areas, and religious sites so that the capital looks attractive during the festival of lights.
The administration has directed for proper management and allocation of space for street vendors, with municipal authorities and local police coordinating to make sure business operations run smoothly while public safety and convenience are maintained.
