The CBI registered a case against Sub-Inspector Meena on November 19. He was accused of demanding Rs 40,000 from a complainant in exchange for filing a favourable charge sheet to help secure the bail of the complainant’s brother.
After negotiation, the amount was settled at Rs. 30,000. The CBI laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed.
In a separate case registered on November 18, ASI Buddha Pal was accused of demanding Rs. One Lakh from a complainant to remove her name from an FIR registered at Harsh Vihar police station. The agreed bribe amount was later negotiated down to Rs. 50,000. The CBI caught the ASI while he was accepting the illicit payment.
Searches were conducted at the locations of both accused, leading to the recovery of incriminating documents. Both arrested individuals were produced before the court.
