Amit Shah takes part in roadshow in Silchar
The roadshow was organised to generate support for Parimal Suklabaidya, Lok Sabha candidate of BJP from Silchar seat.
The Assam government today introduced a Bill in the Assembly to bring Madrassas of the state under the prevailing statutory norms and standards and to restrict growth of such institutions.
On behalf of Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary introduced The Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialisation of Services of Employees and Re-Organisation of Madrassa Educational Institutions) Bill, 2018.
In his statement of objects and reasons, Sarma said the Bill is brought so that the Madrassa schools conform to the prevailing statutory norms and standards, and it also has “a further objective to restrict any further growth of such venture Madrassa educational institutions in the state”.

In a separate Bill tabled today, the government proposed to fix minimum pay for teaching and non-teaching staff of private schools across the state.
The Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation and Management) (Amendment) Bill, 2018 proposed that “no teaching or non-teaching staff of a non-government educational institution shall be paid emoluments less than the norms fixed by the appropriate authority”.
Besides, the teachers of private schools will have to be qualified as per norms set by the National Council for Teachers Education and the norms fixed under the respective Service Rules framed by the state government, the Bill said.
