The Delhi government on Tuesday stepped up its efforts to tackle the air pollution menace of the city, with checking of non-compliant commercial vehicles, dust control measures, and round-the-clock monitoring being some of the measures.

All the agencies involved in implementing the pollution control measures across the national capital have intensified their actions, as well increased their presence on ground to keep a check on the sources of pollution, and have stepped up enforcement against the violations, be it the industrial units, polluting vehicles and other such sources.

Across the city, and especially at the entry points, teams could be seen checking the vehicles entering the national capital, and booking the violators, following the directions with regard to the restrictions on the entry of the non- compliant commercial vehicles, and in the city against those vehicles with invalid pollution under control certificates.

The agencies that are implementing the dust control measures like misting, sprinkling, garbage disposal, mechanical road cleaning have also intensified their actions, across the major corridors and more prominently at the identified pollution hotspots in the city.

Vehicles are being checked for the pollution under control certificated more regularly, and the violators are facing strict enforcement, while construction and demolition sites are under monitoring.

Additional teams have been deployed on ground to keep a check on the open waste burning, disposal of garbage, while round-the-clock monitoring is also being conducted.

Sources of pollution are under strict vigil, especially the industrial units, and the polluting vehicles, with the authorities directed to take strict actions in case of violations.

The Graded Response Action Plan’s stage- II (GRAP-II) is presently invoked across the national capital, and the agencies are implementing the measures under the anti- pollution plan.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region and the adjoining areas, which keeps a check on the air quality scenario invokes the measures under its anti- pollution plan and its different stages, with respect to the level of Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital.
