The video quickly went viral. Many users called it one of the most practical summer inventions seen this season. Summer heat has made even short commutes feel exhausting right now. So the air-conditioned auto rickshaw became the internet’s latest obsession.

An electric vehicle, too

What added further intrigue to the already attention-grabbing video was the vehicle’s identity as an electric auto. The vehicle’s green number plate caught attention. It means that it is an electric vehicle. The combination of an eco-friendly powertrain and an air-conditioned cabin struck many viewers as a forward-looking upgrade. Also, this is doubly significant at time when India is actively pushing for cleaner greener urban mobility solutions.

The electric auto rickshaw segment has been growing rapidly in cities like Gurugram, Noida, Delhi, largely driven by lower operating costs and government incentives for EV adoption.

A corporate connection?

While the identity of the vehicle’s owner remains unconfirmed, social media users were quick to theorise about its origins and purpose. Some users claimed the service may be linked to corporate employee transportation in Gurgaon.

“It’s Hyundai Auto. Hyundai gives pick and drop service to their employees who live in Gurgaon,” one user commented in the video’s comment section.

Gurugram, home to dozens of multinational corporations and technology companies, has long been a hub where private firms provide last-mile transport services to employees commuting from nearby residential areas.

Netizens react

The comment section of the viral reel quickly became a space for both laughter and genuine enthusiasm. One user quipped, “Was he using indicator? Holy moly i haven’t seen a auto using one in decades,” while another joked about the auto’s appearance, writing, “Need it in pink or in the Scooby doo mystery machine colour.”

Another one said, “Gurgaon is not for beginners.”But beneath the humour lay a genuine appreciation for the ingenuity on display. A fourth user expressed hope that the concept would spread across the country, saying: “Need this all over India.”
