AAP’s Leader of Opposition in MCD, Ankush Narang on Friday pressed the BJP-ruled civic body to account for sanitation lapses in Karol Bagh in central Delhi.

At the zonal ward committee meeting, he questioned officials on the status of drain cleaning in the neighbourhood. “When was the last time drains in Karol Bagh Zone were cleaned? Which contractors have been awarded the work?” he asked.

He also sought details on the completion of waste removal tasks and the action taken against contractors failing to meet deadlines.

Raising the issue of potholes, Narang demanded a report on the number of road pits repaired so far. He further pressed for an action plan on waste dumping sites across the city, asking how many offenders had been caught and challaned for debris dumping.

Launching an attack on the ruling party’s claims of keeping the city clean, Narang said, “MCD often announces campaigns to free Delhi from garbage, but the reality is that roads remain littered. Parks are in a pathetic state — there is no budget for new ones, and the boundary walls of existing parks are collapsing. The Corporation has taken no concrete steps to repair them.”
