AAP MLA resigns in Punjab; who will the party blame now, asks BJP’s Sachdeva

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday alleged that Arvind Kejriwal’s obstinacy has led to fragmentation within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a trend that has now extended from its Delhi unit to Punjab.

He claimed that AAP had made grand promises in Punjab, including financial support for women, better schools and hospitals, and uninterrupted electricity and water supply. However, more than halfway through their term, AAP MLAs in the state are now feeling uncomfortable about being held accountable to the public.

According to Sachdeva, in this atmosphere of growing discontent, AAP MLA Anmol Gagan — who once made sweeping statements like “MSP in five minutes” based on her faith in party leadership — has resigned from the assembly in a bid to maintain transparency with the people.

The Delhi BJP chief remarked that the situation mirrors what Delhi MLAs experienced in 2023, following the corruption allegations against Kejriwal and his government.

Sachdeva further said that whenever AAP MLAs and councillors resign in Delhi, the party blames the BJP and its so-called “Operation Lotus.”
“But now, in a state where AAP enjoys absolute power, a pro-farmer MLA has resigned. What will party chief Kejriwal say this time?” Sachdeva asked.
