After slow start, Sensex crosses 400 points, Nifty hits 11,753

Shrugging off a weak start, stock markets on Tuesday gained momentum during the intraday trade as Sensex rose 430.78 points or 1.10 per cent to 39,680.98. Tata Motors shares jumped today to 13.15 per cent followed by Yes Bank to 6.03 per cent and ICICI Bank with 1.59 per cent in the most active list.

At 1200 hours, the broader NSE Nifty index was at 11,753.55, up 126.40 points or 1.09 per cent high from its previous close.

Meanwhile, shares of Bharti Airtel plunged 3.33 per cent after company delayed its earnings announcement till the second week of November. Power Grid Corp with 0.82 per cent and Kotak Mahindra with 0.57 per cent followed Airtel in the list of top drags.

Tata Steel also gained 6.82 per cent and was running at second position in top gainers list on Sensex.

On the other hand, Asian markets rose to a three-month peak high on Wall Street as the hopes for progress trade talks between US-China increased.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump said he expected to sign a significant part of the trade deal with Beijing ahead of schedule.
