Reliance’s mega Kutch project to begin solar power generation In H1 FY27

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has announced that its mega renewable energy project in Kutch, Gujarat, will begin solar power generation during the first half of fiscal year 2026-27 (H1 FY27).

The company revealed that project work across the expansive 550,000-acre site, an area which is nearly three times the size of Singapore, has made significant progress, citing its Q2 FY26 results presentation.

According to the company, engineering and feasibility studies for the Kutch mega project have been completed and land development activities are underway.

The company expects to begin commissioning solar generation units for its captive requirements as part of its green fuels production program in the first half of the next fiscal year.

The Kutch mega project will serve as the foundation of the company’s integrated new energy ecosystem, which includes the production of green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol as well as sustainable aviation fuel.

The project complex will also integrate large-scale solar and battery giga-factories, making it one of the most comprehensive renewable infrastructures globally.

The company also stated that it is gradually expanding its solar photovoltaic (PV) giga-factory in Jamnagar. Four PV module lines have already been commissioned, while the first solar cell line is set to be operational shortly, the company stated.

The plant includes fully automated sections such as cell print line loaders and texturization tools designed to maximise efficiency and automation.

Meanwhile, work on the company’s battery energy storage giga-factory is “progressing at a rapid pace.”

Civil construction and engineering activities have been completed for the 40 GWh manufacturing capacity, with production equipment ready for installation on foundations, the company stated.
