As the official distributor, Reliance Retail will be responsible for expanding the brand’s reach across the country. Essence is Europe’s top cosmetics brand in terms of units sold and manufactures more than 80% of its products in Europe.
The brand is known for its youthful aesthetic, 100% vegan formulations, eco-friendly packaging, and microplastic-free products.
“With its arrival in India, Essence aims to inspire a new wave of creative self-expression through beauty experimentation, encouraging consumers to mix, match, and play with products that make makeup a joyful part of everyday life,” Reliance Retail said in its announcement.
“This launch reflects Reliance Retail’s commitment to offering the best global beauty experiences to Indian consumers, bringing together fun, inclusivity, and sustainability under one brand.”
Founded in 2002, Essence is known for its “Make Beauty Fun” philosophy and its high-quality, affordable, cruelty-free makeup. The brand refreshes roughly half of its range twice a year and regularly introduces trend-focused limited editions.
With its entry into the Indian market, Essence aims to foster creative self-expression and everyday beauty experimentation, a move that Reliance Retail says aligns with its broader goal of bringing leading global beauty brands to Indian shoppers, the statement added.
