In a major consumer-friendly initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced a significant reduction in the prices of Verka milk and dairy products to benefit the common man.
The Chief Minister said that Verka, a trusted brand of Milkfed—Punjab’s state-backed farmers’ cooperative—has announced sweeping price cuts across its popular range of milk and milk products. The revised prices will come into effect from the morning of September 22, 2025, in line with the Government of India’s GST 2.0 reforms, which lowered tariffs on essential dairy items.

Highlighting the new rates, the Chief Minister said that Verka Ghee will now be cheaper by ₹30–35 per litre per kg.

The price of Table Butter has been reduced by ₹30 per kg, Unsalted Butter by ₹35 per kg, Processed Cheese by ₹20 per kg, and UHT Milk (Standard, Toned & Double Toned) by ₹2 per litre. Similarly, prices of Ice Cream (gallons, bricks & tubs) have been reduced by ₹10 per litre, while Paneer is now cheaper by ₹15 per kg.
Mann said the price revision will generate multiple benefits—making dairy products more affordable, boosting consumer demand and sales volumes, and strengthening Punjab’s cooperative model.
He added that the move would also enhance tax collections, improve the state’s fiscal position, ensure quality standards and compliance, and provide much-needed relief to consumers hit by inflation, while simultaneously supporting farmers.
