Gunfight in South Delhi: Three arrested after Pushp Vihar encounter
A police operation in South Delhi's Pushp Vihar resulted in the arrest of three suspects, with investigators continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the encounter.
Kerala’s veteran writer A. Aravindakshan and Arunachal’s young poet Jamuna Beeni were honoured with the Tathagat Sahitya Samman in Delhi, celebrating their remarkable contributions to Hindi literature.

An evening of literature and culture unfolded at the Sahitya Akademi auditorium in New Delhi as two remarkable voices of Indian literature received the Tathagat Sahitya Samman. The prestigious award this year went to A Aravindakshan, a veteran Hindi writer from Kerala, and Jamuna Beeni, a young poet from Arunachal Pradesh.
The ceremony opened on a note with a Kathak performance inspired by Mahakavi Nirala’s Saraswati Vandana setting graceful tone for the evening. The audience was soon immersed in the celebration of words, ideas, cultural harmony.

Dr NP Singh, former IAS officer and trustee of Tathagat Trust highlighted the vision behind the award. He spoke about the Trust’s work in promoting literary and educational initiatives in addition to its goal of bridging North-South cultural and linguistic dialogues across India. He also mentioned that the award honours the memory of renowned litterateur Ramdarash Mishra, whose contributions continue to inspire generations of writers.

The event brought together some of Hindi literature’s most respected figures. Senior writers and scholars including Anamika, Om Nishchal, Ashok Vajpeyi, Chandrakanta shared insights on the literary contributions of two awardees.
Their reflections showed how both Aravindakshan and Jamuna Beeni have enriched contemporary Hindi literature with a lot of sensitivity, cultural depth, human values.
Aravindakshan’s celebrated published work “Dhadkanon Ke Andar Jaakar” received praises for its exploration of human emotions and inner life. On the other hand, Jamuna Beeni’s “Jab Adivasi Gaata Hai” received appreciation from everyone for giving voice to tribal consciousness and weaving stories of identity and resilience.
The ceremony was tribute to enduring spirit of dialogue, empathy, literary excellence in India.
