At a time when South Asia is grappling with geopolitical uncertainties, fragile connectivity networks and livelihood challenges, Surya Sen Mahavidyalaya turned into a vibrant hub of regional strategic discourse.

The department of political science of the college organised a two-day international conference on “India and Her Neighbours in an Age of Disruptions: Focus on Security, Connectivity and Livelihood Amidst Regional Turbulence in South Asia” on 16-17 February, in collaboration with Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi.

The conference witnessed participation from academics across India and neighbouring countries, alongside more than 100 scholars who presented research papers in both offline and online modes.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Deb Kumar Mukhopadhaya, former Vice-Chancellor of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, who delivered an insightful inaugural address. College Principal Dr PK Mishra delivered the welcome address, while Dr Bikash Ranjan Deb, head of the department of political science and conference coordinator, introduced the theme.

The conference generated significant academic engagement, with rigorous discussions on regional security frameworks, cross-border connectivity, and sustainable livelihood strategies in a rapidly changing South Asian landscape.
