Over the next two days, the newly elected legislators will participate in a series of expert-led sessions on the responsibilities of elected representatives and the functioning of legislative institutions.

The discussions will focus on legislative procedure, parliamentary conventions, executive accountability, committee systems, financial business, private members’ Bills, parliamentary privileges, ethics, and the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), the digital platform for legislative business.

The sessions will be conducted by experienced presiding officers from state legislatures, Members of Parliament, constitutional experts, and senior parliamentary practitioners from across the country. The organisers said the programme is intended to equip legislators with a better understanding of parliamentary practices while encouraging the exchange of ideas and best practices in democratic governance.

The orientation programme will conclude on Saturday with a valedictory session in the historic chamber of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The closing ceremony will be addressed by West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alongside Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose, and other dignitaries.
