With around 7 lakh aspirants set to appear for Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) examination on Sunday, the state transport department has decided to run around 2,000 state-run buses to provide ease of travel for the examinees.

The department has also decided to open control rooms under South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBTC), North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) and West Transport Corporation (WBTC).

The private and minibus operators have also been urged to run full fleet on that day while the staff of the department has been asked to remain present on duty to avoid any hassles in providing services to the aspirants.

Like the transport department, the Kolkata Metro Railway has also decided to run eight additional services, including four services each in the up and down directions for the TET 2022 examinees in the North-South corridor.

The additional services, as informed by the city Metro, are to be run before the start of the examination at a 7- minute interval instead of the normal 15-minute interval Sunday services. In the afternoon, services would be run at 10-minute intervals.

Being a Sunday, 138 services are to be operated with 69 each in the up and down directions. The authorities have announced that more services would be added to manage the rush if the situation demands.

In order to tackle the expected rush, additional manpower is to be deployed at Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, Esplanade, Sovabazar-Sutanuti, Dum Dum and Dakshineswar stations by the Metro authorities. Similarly, the South Eastern Railway has decided to run all suburban and non-suburban services on Sunday for the candidates appearing for TET examination.

As informed by the SER, the trains which are not run on Sundays and national holidays will also run on that day as per schedule like other days.

According to the zonal railway, additional arrangements are to be made by Kharagpur and Adra Divisions for running special trains for the upcoming TET examination.
