Two women held for attempt to traffic minor in Kolkata

Lalbazar sources said that as locals, they had the measure of the victim and her family. Taking advantage of their socio-economic condition, they had cajoled her family into letting her accompany them for a purported job in an undisclosed place.

Two women were arrested by the officers of the anti-trafficking squad of Kolkata police in connection with alleged attempt to traffic a minor girl from her residence at Kabardanga, Near Haridevpur in South Kolkata.

The two women who were arrested had been indentified as Sampa Mandol and Anima Mandol, who the officers said were the employees of night clubs and dance bars located in fringe areas in Kolkata and most importantly were the residents of the same area the minor lived in.

Lalbazar sources said that as locals, they had the measure of the victim and her family. Taking advantage of their socio-economic condition, they had cajoled her family into letting her accompany them for a purported job in an undisclosed place.

Officers said, acting on a specific information a team of officers from Haridevpur police station and the anti-trafficking squad of Kolkata police conducted a raid at a house at Kabardanga and rescued the girl who had been hidden there by the gang.
